Legal Templates for Ledgerline Tenants

This directory contains customizable legal document templates for tenants operating commerce stores on the Ledgerline platform. Each template is provided as a starting point — replace the placeholders with your actual details and publish them on your storefront.

Disclaimer: These templates are provided for informational purposes only and do NOT constitute legal advice. Laws vary by jurisdiction and change over time. You should consult a qualified attorney before publishing any legal policy to your customers.

Templates Included

FileDescription
privacy-policy.mdFull privacy policy covering data collection, third-party integrations, CCPA/CPRA and GDPR rights, and contact information.
terms-of-service.mdTerms of service covering eligibility, payments, shipping, acceptable use, IP, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution.

Placeholder Vocabulary

Each template uses a consistent set of double-brace placeholders. Replace every placeholder before publishing. Never leave {{...}} tokens in a live document.

PlaceholderWhat to substitute
{{TENANT_NAME}}Your legal or doing-business-as business name (e.g., "Acme Goods LLC").
{{TENANT_URL}}Your primary website or storefront URL (e.g., https://store.example.com).
{{TENANT_EMAIL}}Your customer-facing contact email address (e.g., support@example.com).
{{TENANT_JURISDICTION}}The governing law jurisdiction for your business (e.g., "the State of California, United States" or "England and Wales").
{{EFFECTIVE_DATE}}The date these policies take effect (e.g., "January 1, 2025").
{{REFUND_WINDOW_DAYS}}The number of days a customer has to request a refund (e.g., 30). Used only in the refund policy.
{{TENANT_PHYSICAL_ADDRESS}}Your legal-notice mailing address; may be a P.O. box (e.g., "P.O. Box 1234, Anytown, CA 90210").

How to Customize

  1. Open the relevant .md file in any text editor.
  2. Use your editor's find-and-replace feature to substitute every {{PLACEHOLDER}} with the real value for your business. Work through the full placeholder vocabulary above.
  3. Review each section carefully. Some sections are jurisdiction-specific (for example, CCPA rights apply to California-based businesses or businesses with California customers; GDPR applies when you serve EU/EEA/UK residents). Remove sections that do not apply to you, or add jurisdiction-specific language your attorney recommends.
  4. Save your completed file under a name you control (for example, privacy.md or upload it as a page on your website).
  5. Publish the completed policies where your customers can easily find them — a footer link is the standard placement.
  6. Re-review your policies whenever you add a new third-party integration, change your data-handling practices, or when applicable laws change.

Disclaimer

These templates are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, and are intended only as a starting point. They do not create an attorney-client relationship and should not be relied upon as legal advice. Platform integrations (Stripe, NOWPayments, TaxJar, SendGrid, EasyPost, Discord) each have their own privacy and data-handling terms; your policies must remain consistent with those agreements. Consult qualified legal counsel before publishing any legal policy to your customers.
